Teach First is building a movement of leaders who change lives within classrooms, schools and across society. The charity works with thousands of schools, businesses, universities and other not-for-profit organisations equally impatient to improve the life chances of children from low income backgrounds.  Together, they are raising school and pupil performance, strengthening the teaching workforce and developing leaders across education and society.

The Garfield Weston Foundation is a founding supporter of Teach First and has therefore been integral to every phase of the organisation’s development. The Trustees could see that the charity’s successful approach could be replicated in a cost effective way and therefore awarded a grant that has enabled the expansion of their Leadership Development Programme to coastal and isolated locations across the North of England, an area that the Foundation has strategically focused on for the past few years.

“I am sincerely grateful for all the Foundation has done for Teach First since we began over 15 years ago. The brilliant funding, support and encouragement Teach First has received from the Trustees has enabled the organisation to take many exciting new steps – from the very first year when I was starting to find the staff and premises to begin our work, to now expanding the reach of our successful Leadership Development Programme to support schools beyond the major cities. The Foundation is a key part of our movement to end educational inequality and I am very proud to have them as a partner in delivering our work“
